Flash Photography • Using a TripodCAUTION• As long as a cable release remains attached tothe Mirror Lock-up Socket, the camera is set formirror lock-up operation.Consequently, it will not be possible to take aphotography by merely pressing the shutterrelease button.• It the red line around the Mirror Lock-up Socketis still visible when the cable release is removed,the camera is still set for mirror lockup operation.If such is the case, reattach the cable release,making sure that the socket retracts as youremove it once again.• The shutter should be released with the cablerelease within 55 seconds of pressing the ShutterRelease Button. If this is not done, the alarm willsound after 55 seconds later and continue for 5seconds before stopping.• If you release the shutter with the cable releaseafter the alarm stops (approx. 60 seconds), theshutter speed will be 1/400sec. If you wish to usea shutter speed other than 1/400 sec. after thebuzzer stops, follow the procedure for multipleexposure in the steps given below.1. Set the R-M lever to "M" (multipleexposure),and press down the cocking lever.2. Set the shutter speed dial to a desired speedand perform "mirror lock-up".3. Reset the R-M lever to its normal position.Attaching Flash UnitsCompact, clip-on units can be attacheddirectly to the Hot-Shoe of the camera.When using large, grip-type units, attachthe sync cord of the flash to the Flash SyncTerminal (X-sync) of the lens.• When the Mamiya MZ36R Flash is used, agreen monitor lamp will glow, indicating thatbattery charging has been accomplished.Determining the ApertureWhen using automatic flash units, refer tothe instructions of the particular flash units forthe correct apertures to use.When using a manual electronic flash unitor flash bulbs, the guide number (G.N)divided by the subject distance gives thecorrect aperture to use.NOTE:Flash time, recharging time and synchropolarity differ depending on the type of flashunit. Check performance by taking testphotographs.34Using a TripodFor optimum quality, use of a large, sturdytripod is recommended.The Tripod Socket will accept standardsize (U 1/4" thread) tripod screws withoutmodification. Simply attach the RZ 67 as youwould any other camera with standardthreads.When using a tripod with a 3/8" screw, firstremove the small screw in the base of theTripod Socket of the camera by rotating itcounterclockwise with an appropriately sizedscrewdriver. Next, use a coin to remove the1/4" adapter “A” from the Tripod Socket byrotating it counterclockwise. The camera canthen be mounted on a 3/8" screw tripod.
