Should this not solve the problem,remove the controller card from its expansion slotlocation and re-install it in another expansion slotlocation. This will correct a problem that is theresult of a bad expansion slot connector. If thevideo display is operational and will perform somefunctions (such as inverting the display) then thecharacter generator ROM on the controller card isprobably defective. Errors that are reported for themonochrome/color video display are usually the resultof a bad controller card. To check the possibility ofa bad data path to the controller card from the MainProcessor Board, a memory expander card can be placedinto the e x p a n s i o n slot occupied by the videocontroller card and the diagnostics test for RAMfailures can be executed. To use this technique a BCDdisplay must be installed for error message output,or output should be redirected to a printer.5-35
