1-8 Reviewing System FeaturesVolume ControlUse the volume control to adjust the volume of the system’s built-inspeakers or optional headphone set. The speakers are located in the baseof the LCD panel.You can also use the Windows sound software. To bring up the Windowsvolume control, double click the speaker icon on the taskbar (next to thesystem clock). Use the software to balance the sound between the left andright speakers.PC Card SlotsYour system has two PC card slots that support 16-bit PC card technologyand 32-bit CardBus technology. The CardBus technology provides up to132 MB/second of bandwidth.The card slots support two Type II cards or one Type III PC card in thebottom slot for extending the system’s capabilities. Each type of PC cardhas a different function. Using the PC card slots, you can add a number offunctions to the system with a variety of cards (for example, modem,memory, Small Computer System Interface).A PC card is inserted into a PC card slot similar to inserting a diskette in adiskette drive. Press the eject button to eject a PC card.Removable slot covers keep foreign matter out of the slots when PC cardsare not used.FanThe fan cools system unit components and prevents them fromoverheating. Keep the area near the fan clear for proper ventilation.A feature of the fan is its quietness. The fan operates at less than 30 db.Rear FeaturesOn the rear of the system unit are the universal serial bus (USB) ports, DCpower connector, mouse and keyboard ports, and other external deviceconnectors.
