Installing Options 5-7The Direction SP E-Series supports ISA Plug and Playexpansion boards, which allow you to install a board in anexpansion slot without changing the hardware settings.There are no system resource conflicts to resolve. Plug andPlay automatically configures the board for the system.Industry-standard 8-bit and 16-bit ISA, and 32-bit PCIexpansion boards are supported in the system unit. ISAexpansion boards can be Plug and Play or non-Plug andPlay boards.PCI expansion boards run at one half the system host’s busspeed. The PCI bus handles 32 bits of data at a time, beingwider as well as faster than the standard ISA bus. PCIboards can send and receive data much faster, therebyboosting system performance.Your system has three expansion slots: one ISA slot two PCI slots.The option board slot configuration accommodates thefollowing devices:NOTEThe four furthest-left slots (as seen from thefront) on the desktop model or four lowest slots onthe minitower are not used. Slot 1 — Accommodates an optional PCI board. Slot 2 — Accommodates an optional PCI board. Slot 3 — Accommodates an optional ISA board. Slot 4 — Not used. Slots 5 — Not used.
