See “Completing the Upgrade” on page 7-8.N O T EIf you view disks with a disk-management tool during theupgrade procedure, disk slot assignments sometimesappear to change. This occurs because thedisk-management tools assign volume names based onthe order in which disks are inserted. Therefore, if youremove a disk and then reinstall it later in the upgradeprocedure, it may not have the same slot assignment as ithad earlier. If you want to ensure that a disk’s logical namecorresponds to a physical slot number, reboot the systemwhen all disks are installed.Breaking the Mirror of the System VolumeIf you are using volume mirroring on the system volume, break the mirror before youstart the upgrade.1. Open Windows Disk Management:a. Right-click My Computer and then click Manage.b. Expand Computer Management and .c. Click Disk Management.2. Verify that the volumes on the system disk and its mirror are healthy, dynamic,mirrored volumes.3. Right-click one of the volume copies in the mirrored system volume and note itsDisk Name, such as Disk 1.4. Click Break Mirrored Volume. When you are asked to confirm that you want tobreak the mirrored volume, click Yes.5. Exit from the disk-management tool.
