1. Installing Internal Optional DevicesExpress5800/R120d-2E User’s Guide76Chapter 2 Preparations1.13 PCI CardThe server provides two types of riser cards where you can install a PCI card and a riser card dedicated toRAID Controller. The riser cards can have three full-height PCI card, two low-profile PCI card, and one RAIDController card (six PCI cards can be installed in total).Important You must avoid static electricity to work with the procedure below. Fordetails, refer to Chapter 2 (1.2 Anti-static Measures).1.13.1 NotesRead the following notes when installing or removing a PCI card.• Do not touch the terminals of the riser cards and the leads of electronic components with your barehand. Fingerprints and dust left on them cause the server to malfunction due to a connection failure ordamage to the leads.• Available type of PCI card depends on riser card. Make sure the card type before connecting it to risercard.• The server provides no connector to connect a LED connector which is supplied in RAID Controllerused to indicate disk access.• PCI slot number "1A" is assigned to the RAID controller-dedicated slot . “1B”,”2B”,”1C",”2C” is assignedto the riser card for low-profile PCI cards The “3B” is assigned to the riser card for full height PCI card.• The PCI devices of the same type (including onboard PCI device) may be recognized in different orderfrom that described above, depending on OS or RAID System BIOS utility. Check the slot location ofPCI device by PCI bus number, device number and function number shown in Chapter4 Appendix 2PCI Configuration.• Before removing the top cover, be sure to disconnect cables from PCI card such as LAN adapter. If not, cables may be damaged.• If an additional LAN card is installed, it is hard to push the catch of the cable connector with your fingerthat is connected to the LAN card. Disconnect the connector pushing the catch with a standardscrewdriver. At this time, be very careful for the screwdriver not to damage the LAN card or other cards.• Set Disabled for the optional ROM of a LAN device not to be booted by using the BIOS Setup utility.• If a bootable device such as a PCI card or USB device is added, the boot order may change. In the BIOS Setup utility, select Hard Drive BBS Priorities from the Boot menu, and then specify ahigher priority for the boot device.Boot → Hard Drive BBS Priorities → Check the displayIf the boot device is an HDD under an optional RAID Controller, the display is (Bus xx Dev 00) PCIRAID Adapter. Note that the value for xx changes depending on the PCI slot where a RAID board isinstalled.• For a RAID Controller, LAN card (network boot), or Fibre Channel controller, if no hard disk drive onwhich an OS is installed is connected, set the option ROM for that slot to Disabled. Refer to Chapter 2(1. System BIOS) in "Maintenance Guide" for how to specify it.
