24W415-1361 / 11.28.14EN5.4 USING FLEXIBLE VENT COMPONENTS5.4.1 HORIZONTAL AIR TERMINAL INSTALLATIONFor safe and proper operation of the appliance, follow the ventinginstructions exactly.All inner flex pipe and outer flex pipe joints may be sealed using hightemperature sealant W573-0002 (not supplied) or the high temperaturesealant W573-0007 Mill Pac (not supplied). However, the high temperaturesealant W573-0007 Mill Pac (not supplied) must be used on the jointconnecting the inner flex pipe and the exhaust flue collar.Use only approved flexible vent pipe kits marked:“Wolf Steel Approved Venting” as identifiedby the stamp only on the outer flex pipe.22.1ELBOWSPACERSDO NOT ALLOW THE INNER FLEX PIPE TO BUNCH UP ON HORIZONTAL OR VERTICAL RUNS AND ELBOWS.KEEP IT PULLED TIGHT.SPACERS ARE ATTACHED TO THE INNER FLEX PIPE AT PREDETERMINED INTERVALS TO MAINTAIN AN EVENAIR GAP TO THE OUTER FLEX PIPE. THIS GAP IS REQUIRED FOR SAFE OPERATION. A SPACER IS REQUIREDAT THE START, MIDDLE AND END OF EACH ELBOW TO ENSURE THIS GAP IS MAINTAINED. THESE SPACERSMUST NOT BE REMOVED.! WARNINGA. Stretch the inner flex pipe to the required length taking intoaccount the additional length needed for the finished wallsurface. Apply a heavy bead of the high temperaturesealant W573-0007 Mill Pac (not supplied) to the innersleeve of the air terminal. Slip the vent pipe a minimumof 2” (50.8mm) over the inner sleeve of the air terminaland secure with 3 #8 screws.B. Using the outer flex pipe, slide over the outer combustionair sleeve of the air terminal and secure with 3 #8 screws.Seal using high temperature sealant W573-0002 (notsupplied).C. Insert the vent pipes through the firestop maintaining the requiredclearance to combustibles. Holding the air terminal (lettering inan upright, readable position), secure to the exterior wall andmake weather tight by sealing with caulking (not supplied).D. If more vent pipe needs to be used to reach the fireplace, couplethem together as illustrated. The vent system must besupported approximately every 3 feet (0.9m) for both verticaland horizontal runs.
