The system timing slot has a pin (PXI_CLK10_IN) through which a system timing modulemay source a 10 MHz clock to which the backplane phase-locks.Figure 4. The peripheral expansion slot allows for a multiple-slot wide module (thatexpands to the right) to expand into the peripheral expansion slot to avoid covering peripheralslots. The peripheral expansion slot provides power and connectors for alignment, but does notprovide I/O. For more information about peripheral expansion slot connector pinouts, refer tothe Expansion Slot Pinouts section. The peripheral expansion slot will accept the followingperipheral modules:• Multiple-slot PXI Express peripheral modules that expand to the right. The module'smain connectors for signaling are mated in a peripheral slot to the left and a secondaryconnector for power and/or mechanical alignment may be mated.Note The peripheral expansion slot does not provide PCI/PXI Express or timingsignals. A single-slot module installed in the peripheral expansion slot will not befunctional.Note For connector pinouts for the chassis backplane, refer to the PXI-5 PXIExpress Hardware Specification, Revision 2.0.PXIe-1092 User Guide | © National Instruments | 9
