Inform Nautel of your intention to useany of these options prior to purchasing your transmitter to allow factory configuration and testing.Standby ExciterThe NX5 supports operation with a standby exciter, which can be installed in the transmitter. With astancby exciter you can enable and configure the NX5’s automatic changeover function.RF OutputThe NX5 supports the use of a 1-5/8 inch EIA female connector (standard) or optionally, a 7/8 inch EIAfemale connector.IBOCThe NX5 supports the IBOC digital modulation system. The optional Exgine PWB can be mounted in thetransmitter, and in conjunction with an Exporter, provides the IBOC signal to the NX5 exciter.DRMThe NX5 supports Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) radio as a modulation option. An external DRM signalsource (purchased separately) must be configured to provide a modulating signal to the NX5 exciter viaI/Q over AES. Nautel will factory configure the proper pre-correction curves.Open/Closed Air CoolingThere are two cooling configurations available for the transmitter. See Section 1.4, “CoolingRequirements” on page 1.4.1 for more information.GPS Sync CardA GPS sync PWB can be purchased that is capable of driving a 3.3 V or 5 V GPS antenna. If the optionalGPS sync PWB is installed, it provides the necessary 10 MHz, 1 PPS and 1 kHz sync signals used by theexciter(s). The exciter uses these signals to synchronize the transmitter’s carrier frequency and phase tothis GPS reference.
