19CONNECTIONSPowerdrive MD2SL Installation and maintenance5077 - 2017.12 / ben3 - CONNECTIONS• All connections work must be performed byqualified electricians in accordance with the laws inforce in the country in which the drive is installed. Thisincludes earthing to ensure that no directly accessiblepart of the drive can be at the mains voltage or any othervoltage which may be dangerous.• The drive must be supplied through an approvedcircuit-breaking device so that it can be powered downsafely.• The optional isolator supplied with the drive doesnot isolate the drive input busbars. It must withoutfail be associated with a circuit-breaking device in theswitchboard.• The drive power supply must be protected againstoverloads and short-circuits.• Check that the voltage and current of the drive. themotor and the mains supply are compatible.• The voltages on the connections of the mains supply.the motor. the braking resistor or the filter may causefatal electric shocks. The protective plates supplied withthe drive must always be installed correctly to protect theuser against electric shocks.• Only one permanent magnet motor can be connectedto the drive output. It is recommended to install a circuit-breaking device between the permanent magnet motorand the drive output to eliminate the risk of hazardousvoltage feedback when performing maintenance work.• See also the recommendations in section 7.3.1 - Power Terminals3.1.1 - OverviewPowerdrive MD2SL power connections are detailed for eachmodel in §3.1.4.3.1.2 - Terminal sizes and torque settingsFunctions/connections Refs.Type of connection and tightening torque180T to 270T 340T to 1700T340TH to 1800THMains power supply L1.
