103Shooting Options: The Shooting MenuShooting, Playback and Setup MenusB Notes on Face-Priority• In Face priority, if the shutter-release button is pressed halfway when no faces are recognized, AFarea mode will be set to Auto.• If no face is detected when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway in Portrait or Nightportrait scene mode, or smile mode, the camera will focus on the subject in the center focus area.• The camera may be unable to detect faces in the following situations:- When faces are partially hidden by sunglasses or other obstructions- When the subject is not looking directly at the camera- When faces take up too much or too little of the frame• The camera’s ability to detect faces depends on a variety of factors, including whether or not thesubject is facing the camera.• In some rare cases, the subject may not be in focus despite the fact that the double border glowsgreen (A 25). Should this occur, switch to A (auto) mode and set AF area mode to Manual orCenter, refocus on another subject positioned at the same distance from the camera as the actualportrait subject, and use focus lock (A 101).• When pictures in which a face was detected during shooting are played back, the pictures will beautomatically rotated for playback display, according to the orientation of the face detected.Q Distortion ControlSpecify whether or not the distortion is corrected.
