If more than one face is detected, thecamera focuses on the face closest to the camera.When taking pictures of subjects other than people,or framing a subject with which no face is detected,the AF area mode setting switches to Auto, and thecamera will automatically select the focus area (up tonine areas) containing the subject closest to thecamera.a AutoThe camera has nine focus areas, and automaticallyselects the focus areas containing the subject closestto the camera. Press the shutter-release buttonhalfway to activate the focus area. When the shutter-release button is pressed halfway, the focus areasthat are in focus (up to nine areas) selected by thecamera will be displayed in the monitor.x ManualSelect one of 99 focus areas in the monitor.
