Check theclock regularly against more accurate timepieces and reset as necessary.Press the power switch until the power-on lamp lights.The first time the camera is turned on, the language-se-lection dialog shown opposite will be displayed; choosea language and set the time and date as described onthe following pages.Turning the Camera OffTo turn the camera off, press the power switch again. The camera is off when thepower-on lamp is off. Do not remove the battery or memory card or disconnect the ACadapter until the power-on lamp has gone out.Auto Power Off (Standby Mode)If no operations are performed for one minute, the monitor and electronic viewfinderwill turn off automatically and the camera will enter standby mode to reduce the drainon the battery. While the camera is in standby mode, the power-on lamp will flicker.The camera will be reactivated when you:• Press the power-on switch• Press the button or press the shutter-release button halfway• Press the button to play pictures back• Press the button to display the menu for the current mode• Rotate the mode dial to select a new modeThe length of time before the camera enters standby mode can be changed using theAuto off option in the setup menu ( 98).If no operations are performed for three minutes after the camera enters standbymode, the camera will turn off automatically and the power-on lamp will go out.The Power-on LampThe power-on lamp shows camera status as follows:The fi rst time the camera is turned on, a language-selection dialog will bedisplayed.
