When the shutter is released, the camera detects one ormore human faces (up to three), and processes the picture to soften facial skintones before saving the picture. The degree of skin softening applied can beselected from High, Normal (default setting), and Low.• The current setting can be confirmed by the indicator displayed in the monitorwith shooting (A 8). No indicator is displayed when Off is selected. The effectsof skin softening are not visible when framing pictures for shooting. Check thedegree of skin softening performed in playback mode.Smile TimerWhen On (default setting) is selected, the camera detects human faces and thenautomatically releases the shutter whenever a smile is detected.• The current smile timer setting is indicated by an icon when shooting (A 8).No icon is displayed when Off is selected.Blink ProofWhen On is selected, the camera automatically releasesthe shutter twice each time a picture is taken. Of the twoshots, one in which the subject’s eyes are open is saved.• If the camera saved a picture in which the subject’seyes may have been closed, the dialog shown atright is displayed for a few seconds.• Flash cannot be used when On is selected.• The default setting is Off.• The current blink proof setting is indicated by an icon when shooting (A 8).
