64Shooting FeaturesShooting Smiling Faces Automatically (Smile Timer)When the camera detects a smiling face, you can take an image automaticallywithout pressing the shutter-release button.• This function can be used when the shooting mode is A (auto), j, k, l, mor M, or Portrait or Night portrait scene mode.1 Press the multi selector J (n).• Change any flash mode, exposure, orshooting menu settings before pressing J.2 Select a (smile timer), and pressthe k button.• If a setting is not applied by pressing the kbutton within a few seconds, the selectionwill be canceled.3 Frame the picture and wait for thesubject to smile without pressingthe shutter-release button.• Point the camera at a human face.• If the camera detects that the face framedby the double border is smiling, the shutteris automatically released.• Whenever the camera detects a smilingface, it automatically releases the shutter.4 End automatic shooting.• To end automatic shooting with smile timer, return to step 1 and select OFF.B Notes About Smile TimerUnder some shooting conditions, the camera may be unable to detect faces ordetect smiles (A81).
