88Shooting Options: The Shooting MenuShooting, Playback and Setup MenusE ISO SensitivitySensitivity is a measure of how quickly the camera reacts to light. The higher thesensitivity, the less light needed to make an exposure. Although a high ISO ratingis suited for shooting pictures of subjects in action or in poor lighting, highsensitivity is often associated with “noise” - randomly spaced, brightly coloredpixels concentrated in dark parts of the image. At the settings other than [Auto], the current setting is displayed in the monitor(A 6). If [Auto] is selected and the sensitivity is raised above ISO 64, the E icon willbe displayed (A 29).B ISO 3200• When [3200] is selected for ISO sensitivity, image mode is displayed in red.• When [ISO sensitivity] is set to [3200], [Image mode] cannot be set to H (4,000 × 3,000), I (4,000× 3,000), R (3,264 × 2,448), and P (3,968 × 2,232). At these image mode settings, selecting [3200]for [ISO sensitivity] automatically switches the [Image mode] setting to L (2,592 × 1,944). Whenany option other than [3200] is next selected for [ISO sensitivity], the original image mode settingis restored.• At an [ISO sensitivity] setting of [3200], the [Multi-shot 16] (A 86) option of the continuousshooting mode is not available. At a [Continuous] setting of [Multi-shot 16], selecting [3200] for[ISO sensitivity] switches the [Continuous] setting to [Single]. The [Continuous] setting does notchange even when [ISO sensitivity] is set to options other than [3200].Auto (default setting)Sensitivity is ISO 64 under normal conditions; when lighting is poor and the flash isoff, the camera compensates by raising sensitivity to a maximum of ISO 1000.64, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 2000, 3200Sensitivity will be locked at the specified value.
