116Technical NotesImage/Sound File and Folder NamesPictures, movies, voice memos and voice recordings are assigned file names asfollows.• Files are stored in folders named with a folder number followed by a five-character identifier: “P_” plus a three-digit sequence number for pictures shotusing panorama assist (e.g. “101P_001”; A 40), “INTVL” for interval timerphotography (e.g. “101INTVL”; A 87), “SOUND” for voice recordings (e.g.“101SOUND”; A 62), and “NIKON” for all other pictures (e.g. “100NIKON”). Whenthe number of files within a folder reaches 9999, a new folder will be created.File numbers will be assigned automatically starting with “0001.”• Files copied using [Copy] > [Selected images] or [Copy sound files] > [Selectedfiles] are copied to the current folder, where they are assigned new file numbersin ascending order starting from the largest file number in memory. [Copy] >[All images] and [Copy sound files] > [Copy all files] copy all folders from thesource medium; file names do not change but new folder numbers areassigned in ascending order, starting from the largest folder number on thedestination medium (A 66, 99).• A single folder can hold up to 200 pictures; if the current folder already contains200 pictures, a new folder, named by adding one to the current folder name,will be created the next time a picture is shot.
