102Connecting to a Television or VCRUsing the EG-D1 video cable, you can connect the D1 to a television or videocassette recorder (VCR) to view images on the television screen or recordthem on tape. Follow these steps to play photographs back on a television set:1 Open the cover protecting the camera’s VIDEO OUT and DC IN connectorsas shown below.2 Connect the cable to the camera by inserting theblack plug into the video-out jack as shown at right.NotesConnections: Connecting to a Television or VCRVideo-out connectorDC-in connector3 Connect the yellow plug to the VIDEO IN jack onthe television or VCR.4 Tune the television to the video channel. The television will displaywhatever image is shown in the camera’s LCD monitor.The VIDEO OUTPUT item in the playback menu offers a choice of NTSC or PALstandards for video output. Select a standard that matches the one used in yourtelevision set. See “Playback: The Playback Menu.”While the camera is connected to a television set, all controls function normally andphotographs can still be taken.Video output is linked to the monitor button only when the mode dial is set to PLAY(playback). In other modes, the television will continue to display images even whenthe LCD monitor is off.When the camera is powered by the EH-4 AC adapter (available separately), themonitor will turn off if no operations are performed for ten minutes. Images willcontinue to be displayed on the television for another ten minutes.
