r133rWhite Balance– Keeping Colors TrueThe color of light reflected from an object varies with the color ofthe light source. The human brain is able to adapt to changes inthe color of the light source, with the result that white objectsappear white whether seen in the shade, direct sunlight, or underincandescent lighting. Unlike the film used in film cameras, digitalcameras can mimic this adjustment by processing imagesaccording to the color of the light source. This is known as “whitebalance.” This chapter covers white balance settings.White Balance Options......................................................... 134Fine-Tuning White Balance.................................................. 137Choosing a Color Temperature........................................... 141Preset Manual ........................................................................ 142
