299UThe color space determines the gamut of colors available for colorreproduction. Choose sRGB for photographs that will be printedor used “as is,” with no further modification. Adobe RGB has awider color gamut and is recommended for images that will beextensively processed or retouched after leaving the camera.Color Space G button ➜ C shooting menuA Color SpaceColor spaces define the correspondence between colors and thenumeric values that represent them in a digital image file. The sRGBcolor space is widely used, while the Adobe RGB color space is typicallyused in publishing and commercial printing. sRGB is recommendedwhen taking photographs that will be printed without modification orviewed in applications that do not support color management, or whentaking photographs that will be printed with ExifPrint, the directprinting option on some household printers, or kiosk printing or othercommercial print services. Adobe RGB photographs can also be printedusing these options, but colors will not be as vivid.JPEG photographs taken in the Adobe RGB color space are DCFcompliant; applications and printers that support DCF will select thecorrect color space automatically. If the application or device does notsupport DCF, select the appropriate color space manually. An ICC colorprofile is embedded in TIFF photographs taken in the Adobe RGB colorspace, allowing applications that support color management toautomatically select the correct color space.
