7 Troubleshooting128Flash malfunction warningWhile the SB-R200 is used as a wireless remote flash unit, the red ready-lightrapidly blinks four times and stops for 0.5 sec. This cycle is repeated six times ifthe flash unit receives a signal such as Non-TTL auto flash or Repeating flash.Problems with the Commander SU-800 and the RemoteSpeedlight SB-R200Problem Cause SolutionThe SB-R200does not fire.The SB-R200’s power is off. Confirm that the red ready-lightcomes on.Different channel numbers are setto the Commander (SU-800) andthe SB-R200.Set the same channel number toboth flash units.Different group names are set tothe Commander (SU-800, etc.) andSB-R200.Set the same group to both flashunits.Control signal from theCommander (SU-800, etc.) doesnot reach the light sensor windowof the SB-R200.Rearrange the position of theSB-R200 so that the light from theCommander reaches the SB-R200.Vignetting occurs The shutter speed set is faster orslower than the flash sync speed.Set the shutter speed to the flashsync speed.Vignetting occurs with a wideangle lensChange the lens’ focal length.UnderexposureoccursLight from the flash unit enters thecamera lens or light sensor windowon the flash unit.Rearrange the position of thecamera or flash unit so that thelight does not enter the lens or lightsensor window.AF-AssistIlluminator doesnot turn on.The SU-800 is set to close-upmode.In the close-up mode, theAF-Assist Illuminator on theSU-800 does not illuminate.However, camera’s AF-assistilluminator turns on.Camera’s focus mode is set to“AF-C”.Set camera’s focus mode to“AF-S”.
