When the power switch is on , the flashmode indicator confirms your selection in the LCD pane l.TTL AUTO [I]]In this mode, the camera's TTL flash sensor measures all thelight which passes through the camera's lens and reflects offthe film surface. This includes both ambient light and light fromthe S8 -24 flash . The flash shuts off at the moment the sensordetects the correct exposure. 8ecause the sensor detects lightpassing through the lens, it automatically adjusts for most flashshooting situations, including bounce flash , diffusion filters andcolored or neutral-density filters used on the lens or on the flashhead.The S8-24's automatic flash operation depends on the NikonSLR model used. The chart on the following page indicates theautomatic modes available for each SLR model shown.Subsequent sections of this instruction manual explain each ofthe different automatic modes.Available flash features also vary depending upon the type ofNikon lens used and camera on which it is used.
