8USE AND SERVICE INSTRUCTIONSWHEN USED IN HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCERECOVERYWARNING!To reduce the risk of exposure to hazardous substancesyou must read and follow all safety instructions in thisInstructions for Use manual.Attention Employer·Please ensure this Instructions for Use manual areprovided to and understood by your employees or anyother persons who use this equipment.·To list all toxic and hazardous substances would bebeyond the scope of these instructions. It is theemployer’s and operator’s responsibility to identifyhazardous or toxic substances which may be collectedby the equipment during operation. Such informationmust be communicated to operators and other potentialusers of this equipment.General Instructions·Contact with the cleaner, dustbag, filter and all otheraccessories used when picking-up hazardous materialsmust be handled according to federal (EPA, OSHA), stateand local regulations valid for the vacuumed substance.· All used filters, bags, and debris must be treated as ahazardous substance and must be disposed of inaccordance with all federal, state, and local regulations.· This cleaner is designed for recovery and collection ofdust, debris and particulates only. This cleaner is notsuitable for recovery and collection of any form ofhazardous vapors. Do not use the cleaner if these vaporsare present.· Do not use this cleaner for the removal of hazardoussubstances unless you are licensed and/or certifiedfor this work by the all authorities having jurisdiction.Instructions for Use· Operation of the cleaner when picking up hazardoussubstances must be accompanied by the use ofappropriate personal protective clothing and respiratoryprotection.· Do not pick-up hazardous substances without the HEPAfilters in place.· If this vacuum cleaner is used to collect hazardoussubstances, do not attempt to open or empty its contentswithout the use of personal protective clothing andrespiratory protection.· If the cleaner is not working properly or has beendropped, damaged, left out doors, or dropped into water,return it to a qualified service center or dealer.· If the cleaner is used in an enclosed contaminatedenvironment, it should be committed exclusively to thistype of environment and not operated outside of anenclosed and controlled environment.· Before the cleaner and any accessories are removedfrom a controlled environment, all external surfaces mustbe decontaminated according to federal (EPA, OSHA),state and local regulations valid for the vacuumedsubstance.Filter Replacement· All used filters, bags, and debris must be treated as ahazardous substance and must be disposed of inaccordance with all federal, state, and local regulations.· Use only approved Nilfisk-Advance vacuum filters andbags.· The following is a recommended replacement intervalfor all of the filters and bag. These items should bereplaced more often if you experience a loss ofperformance.· Disposable paper filter bags - When the bag is 2/3 full itmust be replaced. Excessive over filling of this bag makesit difficult to remove from the cleaner and can result inbreakage and spills.· HEPA filter - Replace filter at least every six months ormore often if a loss of vacuum continues after you havereplaced the paper bag.How to examine filters· Filters collect and are contaminated with hazardoussubstances. The inspection and or replacement of anyfilter must only be done with the use of personal protectiveclothing, proper respiratory protection and in a controlledenvironment.· The HEPA filters cannot be cleaned. Periodically makea visual inspection of each filter for a build-up of debris ordamage to the sealing surfaces. If any filter appears tobe clogged, damaged in any way, or has changed color(should be white) which indicates excessive dirt build-up, replace both with new filters making sure to install anew pre-filter.· If any visible dust particle emissions are observed inthe vacuum exhaust air stream, stop operationsimmediately.
