When you have completed the above steps, Configurator automaticallyestablishes a connection between the PC and the Nokia 12 GSM Module whenConfigurator is started.4.2 CONNECTING A DEVICE OR A MACHINEConnect the device to be controlled with the Remote I/O control to the Nokia 12GSM Module through the M2M system interface. The general-purpose inputsand outputs of the M2M system connector that are described in Chapter 6 areconnected to the device.More information about how to connect a device electrically to the Nokia 12GSM Module and about the recommended connector types is provided in Nokia12 GSM Module HW Integration Manual.4.3 MANDATORY SETTINGSTo use the Remote I/O control of the Nokia 12 GSM Module, you have toconfigure these settings:• Message identifier• SMS centre address• You can also configure the following optional settings (described in Chapter5):• Disabling acknowledgements• Security settings• Input settings• Defining aliases for text messages• Initial output value settings• GPS port settingsUse Nokia 12 Configurator to configure the settings of the Nokia 12 GSMModule. Download Configurator at http://www.forum.nokia.com orhttp://www.americas.forum.nokia.com. You can also use a control message(short message) for the optional settings.The following sections describe the process of getting started with the RemoteI/O control.Note: To use Configurator, you need the Nokia 12 GSM Module and a test board.The Nokia 12 GSM Module is connected to a compatible PC and Configurator withthe test board.
