P C C o n n e c t i v i t y72Installation of Nokia CDMAModem Driver• Before installing the modemdriver, you need to know theCOM port used by DKU-5 datacable. To check the COM portused, click Start > Control Panel> Switch to Classic View.Note: For Windows2000, clickStart > Control Panel.• Select System > Hardware >Device Manager.• Click Ports (COM & LPT). If Port1 on Nokia Adapter indicatesCOM5, then select COM5 duringinstallation of the modem driver.COM port used by DKU-5 datacable can be different ondifferent computers. In somecomputers, COM port used willalways change when youdisconnect DKU-5 data cablefrom the computer. Therefore,before making any Internetconnection to Nokia CDMAphones, please make sure thatPort used for modem is the sameport, as detected by DeviceManager.• Modem installation will proceed.Click Start > Control Panel >Switch to Classic View.Note: For Windows2000, clickStart > Control Panel.• Select Phone and ModemOptions.• On upper side, there are severalTab options: Dialing rules,Modems, Advanced.• Select Modems, then Add, clickDon't detect my modem > Next> Have Disk.• Click Browse, then browse tonmpCDMA_1x(USB).inf file thatyou downloaded fromwww.nokia-asia.com or http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/software/.• Click OK.• Select Nokia CDMA2000 1X 3GPacket Data Modem, click Next.• Select the same COM port asdetected by Device Manager,and click Next > ContinueAnyway.• Modem installation is completed.Click Finish to complete modeminstallation.Making connection toInternet• Click Start > Control Panel >Switch to Classic View.Note: for Windows2000, clickStart > Control Panel.• Click Network Connection >Create a new Connection >Next.• Select Connect to Internet >Next > Set up my connectionmanually > Next.2112_2_en_apac.fm Page 72 Monday, July 19, 2004 12:04 PM
