It is designed andmanufactured not to exceed the limitsfor exposure to radio frequency (RF)recommended by internationalguidelines (ICNIRP). These limits are partof comprehensive guidelines andestablish permitted levels of RF energyfor the general population. The guidelineswere developed by independent scientificorganisations through periodic andthorough evaluation of scientific studies. The guidelines include a substantialsafety margin designed to assure thesafety of all persons, regardless of ageand health. The exposure standard formobile phones employs a unit ofmeasurement known as the SpecificAbsorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limitstated in the international guidelines is2.0 W/kg*. Tests for SAR are conductedusing standard operating positions withthe phone transmitting at its highestcertified power level in all testedfrequency bands. Although the SAR isdetermined at the highest certifiedpower level, the actual SAR of the phonewhile operating can be well below themaximum value. This is because thephone is designed to operate at multiplepower levels so as to use only the powerrequired to reach the network. In general, the closer you are to a base station, thelower the power output of the phone. The highest SAR value for this modelphone when tested for use at the ear is0.81 W/kg. While there may bedifferences between the SAR levels ofvarious phones and at various positions, they all meet the relevant internationalguidelines for RF exposure. This product meets RF exposureguidelines when used either in thenormal use position against the ear orwhen positioned at least 1.5 cm awayfrom the body. When a carry case, beltclip or holder is used for body-wornoperation, it should not contain metaland should position the product at least1.5 cm away from your body.* The SAR limit for mobile phones used bythe public is 2.0 watts/kilogram (W/kg)averaged over ten grams of body tissue. The guidelines incorporate a substantialmargin of safety to give additionalprotection for the public and to accountfor any variations in measurements. SARvalues may vary depending on nationalreporting requirements and the networkband.
