The whip antenna is activatedwhen the whip antenna is fully extended.As with any other radio transmittingdevice, do not touch either of the twoantennas unnecessarily when the phoneis switched on. Contact with the antennaaffects call quality and may cause thephone to operate at a higher power levelthan otherwise needed. Not touching theantenna area during a phone calloptimises the antenna performance andthe talk time of your phone.While in a call, hold the phone to yourear, placing your finger tips at the mid-center of the back cover, below theantenna area on the back of your phone.• ABOUT THE BATTERYInstall the batteryWarning! Use only the BL-5Cbattery in this Nokia phone.If your dealer has alreadyinstalled the battery, please see“Charge the battery” on page 9.1 Remove the back cover of the phoneby pressing and holding the releasebutton while sliding the coverdownward toward the bottom of thephone.
