Printing a copy of this guide provides you access to the instructionsduring the installation process.• ABBREVIATIONSFor the purposes of this user guide, the following abbreviations are used:• SAFETY NOTES• Do not switch on your phone when wireless phone use is prohibited, or when it may cause interference or danger.• Please make backup copies of all important data to protect against possible loss or alteration.• When connecting to any other device, read its user guide for detailed safety instructions. Do not connect incompatibleproducts.• To avoid any potential loss of data, you should not make or receive calls while synchronizing data between the phone and a PC.• Do not point the IR beam at anyone’s eyes or allow it to interfere with other IR devices.• BLUETOOTH COMMUNICATIONSBluetooth is one of the three available options for connecting your phone and PC. If you choose Bluetooth for your connection,please note that the distance between devices in a Bluetooth connection is a range of up to 30 feet (10 meters). The connectionmanagement software for your Bluetooth-enabled PC must be running and a Bluetooth connection must be established betweenyour phone and PC.• INFRARED COMMUNICATIONSInfrared (IR) is one of the three available options for connecting your phone and PC. If you choose IR as your method of connection,please note that the distance between two devices in an infrared connection is a range of three inches to three feet maximum.There must be no obstructions between the two devices and the IR ports of the two devices have to be pointing at each other.Your Nokia phone is a Class 1 Laser Product.Enable infrared communicationsWindows Millennium Edition (ME), Windows 2000, and Windows XP (Home or Professional) users do not need to enable infraredcommunications on their PC prior to using this feature. The infrared port is always active.If you use Windows 98, you can use the infrared control panel to activate or deactivate infrared communications.
