The WLAN wizard helps you to connect to a wireless LAN(WLAN) and manage your WLAN connections.If the search finds WLANs, to create an internet accesspoint (IAP) for a connection and start the web browserusing this IAP, select the connection and Start webbrowsing.If you select a secured WLAN, you are asked to enter therelevant password. To connect to a hidden network, youmust enter the correct network name (service setidentifier, SSID).If you already have the web browser running using thecurrently active WLAN connection, to return to the webbrowser, select Continue web browsing. To end theactive connection, select the connection and DisconnectWLAN.WLAN internet access pointsSelect Menu > Settings and Connectivity > WLAN >Options.Select from the following:● Filter WLAN networks — Filter out wireless LANs(WLANs) from the list of found networks. The selectednetworks are not displayed the next time theapplication searches for WLANs.● Details — View the details of a network shown in thelist. If you select an active connection, the connectiondetails are displayed.Operating modesThere are two operating modes in WLAN: infrastructureand ad hoc.The infrastructure operating mode allows two kinds ofcommunication: wireless devices are connected to eachother through a WLAN access point device, or wirelessdevices are connected to a wired LAN through a WLANaccess point device.In the ad hoc operating mode, devices can send andreceive data directly with each other.Wireless LAN settingsSelect Menu > Settings and Connectivity > WLAN >Options > Settings.Select from the following:● Show WLAN availability — Select whether isdisplayed when a wireless LAN (WLAN) is available.Tip: To access the WLAN Wizard application andview the available options, select the WLAN icon,and in the pop-up window, select thehighlighted text next to the WLAN icon.● Scan for networks — If you set Show WLANavailability to Yes, you can select how often the devicesearches for available WLANs and updates theindicator.● Internet connectivity test — Select whether youwant the device to test the internet capability of theselected WLAN automatically, to ask for permissionevery time, or to never perform the connectivity test.Connectivity© 2009 Nokia.
