It enables wireless accessto data networks such as theInternet.The applications that may use packetdata are MMS, browsing sessions,e-mail, remote SyncML, Javaapplication downloading, and the PCdial-up.To define how to use the service,select Menu > Settings >Connectivity > Packet data > Packetdata connection.Select When needed to set thepacket data connection to beestablished when an applicationneeds it. The connection will beclosed when the application isterminated.Select Always online to set thephone to automatically connect toan packet data network when it isswitched on.indicates a packet dataconnection.Modem settingsYou can connect the phone using anIR or a data cable (CA-42)connection to a compatible PC, anduse the phone as a modem to enablepacket data connectivity from thePC.To define the settings forconnections from the PC, selectMenu > Settings > Connectivity >Packet data > Packet data settings >Active access point, activate theaccess point you want to use, andselect Edit active access point. SelectAlias for access point, and enter anick name for the currently selectedaccess point. Select Packet dataaccess point, and enter the accesspoint name (APN) to establish aconnection to an EGPRS network.You can also set the dial-up servicesettings (access point name) on yourPC using the Nokia Modem Optionssoftware.
