It is designed andmanufactured not to exceed the limitsfor exposure to radio frequency (RF)recommended by internationalguidelines (ICNIRP). These limits are partof comprehensive guidelines andestablish permitted levels of RF energyfor the general population. The guidelineswere developed by independent scientificorganisations through periodic andthorough evaluation of scientific studies. The guidelines include a substantialsafety margin designed to assure thesafety of all persons, regardless of ageand health. The exposure standard for mobile devicesemploys a unit of measurement known asthe Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR. TheSAR limit stated in the internationalguidelines is 2.0 W/kg*. Tests for SAR areconducted using standard operatingpositions with the device transmitting atits highest certified power level in alltested frequency bands. Although theSAR is determined at the highestcertified power level, the actual SAR ofthe device while operating can be wellbelow the maximum value. This isbecause the device is designed to operateat multiple power levels so as to use onlythe power required to reach the network. In general, the closer you are to a basestation, the lower the power output ofthe device. The highest SAR value for this devicewhen tested for use at the ear is0.34 W/kg.This device meets RF exposure guidelineswhen used either in the normal useposition against the ear or whenpositioned at least 1.5 cm away from thebody. When a carry case, belt clip orholder is used for body-worn operation, itshould not contain metal and shouldposition the product at least 1.5 cm awayfrom your body.In order to transmit data files ormessages, this device requires a qualityconnection to the network. In somecases, transmission of data files ormessages may be delayed until such aconnection is available. Ensure the aboveseparation distance instructions arefollowed until the transmission iscompleted.* The SAR limit for mobile devices used bythe public is 2.0 watts/kilogram (W/kg)averaged over ten grams of body tissue. The guidelines incorporate a substantialmargin of safety to give additionalprotection for the public and to accountfor any variations in measurements. SARvalues may vary depending on nationalreporting requirements and the networkband. For SAR information in otherregions please look under productinformation at www.nokia-asia.com.
