You cannot selectbetween EGPRS and GPRS, but forsome applications you may be ableto select GPRS or GSM data (circuitswitched data, CSD).Packet data connectionSelect Menu > Settings >Connectivity > Packet data > Packetdata connection, and from thefollowing options:Always online to set the phone toautomatically register to a packetdata network when you switch onthe phone. or indicates that thepacket data service is available.If you receive a call or a textmessage, or make a call during apacket data connection, orindicates that the packet dataconnection is suspended (on hold).When needed to register andestablish a packet data connectionwhen an application using packetdata needs it, and to close theconnection when you end theapplication.Packet data settingsYou can connect the phone usingBluetooth wireless technology,infrared, or USB data cableconnection to a compatible PC anduse the phone as a modem to enablepacket data connectivity from thePC.To define the settings for the packetdata connections from your PC,select Menu > Settings >Connectivity > Packet data > Packetdata settings > Active access point,and activate the access point youwant to use. Select Edit active accesspoint > Alias for access point, enter aname to change the access pointsettings, and select OK. SelectPacket data access point, enter theaccess point name (APN) to establisha connection to a network, andselect OK.You can also set the packet dataservice settings (access point name)on your PC using the Nokia ModemOptions software. See ”Nokia PCSuite” p. 78. If you have set thesettings both on your PC and on yourphone, the PC settings are used.Data transferSynchronize your calendar, contactsdata, and notes with anothercompatible device (for example, amobile phone), a compatible PC, or aremote Internet server (networkservice).
