Check with your service provider to see what messagingis available for you.■ Text messagesText messaging is a network service. See "Network services," p. 7 for moreinformation. If your wireless service provider supports this feature, you can sendand receive text messages to compatible phones that are also subscribed to theservice.When composing text messages, check the number of characters allowed in thetop right corner of the message. Using special (unicode) characters takes up morespace. If there are special characters in your message, the indicator may not showthe message length correctly. Before the message is sent, the phone will tell youif the message exceeds the maximum length allowed for one message. Also, youcan make distribution lists that contain phone numbers and names from yourcontact list. See "Distribution lists," p. 42 for more information.Note: When sending messages, your device may display Message sent.This is an indication that the message has been sent by your device to themessage center number programmed into your device. This is not anindication that the message has been received at the intendeddestination. For more details about messaging services, check with yourservice provider.Text message folders and optionsIn the standby mode, select Menu > Messaging > Text messages and from thefollowing:Create message—Create and send messages.Inbox—Check for received text messages. Text messages are automatically storedin the Inbox when they are received. A notification appears when a messagearrives in the Inbox.Outbox—Check for outgoing text messages. Text messages are automaticallystored in the Outbox as they are sent. If your service is interrupted while sending,the text message is stored in the Outbox until another delivery attempt is made.
