PTT provides direct voicecommunication. To connect, press thePTT key.You can use PTT to have a conversationwith one person or with a group ofpeople having compatible devices.When your call is connected, thepeople you are calling do not have toanswer the phone. The participantsshould confirm the reception of anycommunication where appropriate, asthere is no other confirmation whetherthe recipients have heard the call.To check availability and costs, and tosubscribe to the service, contact yournetwork operator or service provider.Roaming services may be more limitedthan for normal calls.Before you can use the PTT service, youmust define the required PTT servicesettings. See “PTT settings,” p. 68.While you are connected to the PTTservice, you can use the otherfunctions of the phone. The PTT serviceis not connected to traditional voicecommunication; therefore many of theservices available for traditional voicecalls (for example, voice mailbox) arenot available for PTT communication.■ Connect to the PTTserviceTo connect to the PTT service, selectMenu > Push to talk > Switch PTT on.indicates the PTT connection.indicates that the service istemporarily unavailable. The phoneautomatically tries to reconnect to theservice until you disconnect from thePTT service. If you have added channelsto the phone, you are automaticallyjoined to the active channels, and ifyou have selected a contact, contactgroups, or channel as the defaultaction for the PTTkey, then the name ofthe selected item is displayed in thestandby mode.To disconnect from the PTT service,select Switch PTT off.
