Transmitting dataTransmitting data via IRYou can send or receive data such as business cards (names andnumbers stored in the phone book), calendar notes and graphicalicons (group graphics for caller groups) to or from a compatiblephone or data device (for example, a computer) via the IR port ofyour phone.You can also print business cards and calendar notes. See “Copyingand printing via IR” on page 45.To send or receive data via IR:1 Ensure that the IR ports of the sending and receiving device arepointing at each other and that there are no obstructionsbetween the devices. The preferable distance between thedevices is one meter at the most.2 When receiving data via IR, activate the IR port of your phone byentering the Infrared menu (Menu 9).3 The user of the sending device then selects the desired IRfunction to start data transfer.If data transfer is not started within one minute after theactivation of the IR port, the IR connection is cancelled and hasto be started again.Note: Your phone is a Class 1 Laser Product.Checking the Status of an IR ConnectionThe status of an IR connection is indicated by .• When is shown continuously, the IR connection is activatedand your phone is ready to send or receive data via its IR port.• When is not shown, no IR connection exists.• When blinks, your phone is trying to connect to the otherdevice or the IR connection has been lost.
