General information Automatic proximity sensorYour phone has a built-in proximity sensor. To locate the proximity sensor, see the pictureof the different keys and parts in the Quick start guide. When you put the phone to yourear, the proximity sensor turns off the loudspeaker and changes back to earpiece mode. Theproximity sensor works by sensing if something solid is approaching, so it is possible thatthe proximity sensor will react to objects that it is not meant to.Note: The proximity sensor is not active when an application that is meant to beused by holding the phone away from your mouth and face, for example, a game, isactive. In this case, when a call comes in, loudspeaker mode is stopped and you cananswer the call normally by pressing and placing the phone to your ear.Note: The proximity sensor cannot activate the loudspeaker.Headset modeTo adjust the volume level when a headset is connected to your phone, move the joystickto the right or left or use the headset’s keys.
