Control panel108Internet setupGo to Desk > Control panel > Internet setup.To connect to the Internet:• the wireless network you use must support data callsor GPRS• the data service must be activated for your SIM card• you must have obtained an Internet access point fromyour Internet service provider (ISP)• you must have configured the proper Internet settingsSetting up an Internet access pointBased on the type of the SIM card you use your devicemay be able to automatically add the correct settings forWWW browsing and MMS. Some Internet serviceproviders may offer you the possibility to configure yourInternet access point settings by sending you a message.This might reduce the number of settings you need toenter yourself, or eliminate the need altogether. For moreinformation , see “Plug and play mobile services” onpage 69.The exact values for the settings are usually provided byyour service provider. Follow the instructions given to youby your service provider very carefully.Note that any data transfers via GPRS are subject toapplicable operator data transfer fees.To set up Internet access point, tap New access pt..To edit an existing Internet access point, tap Accesspts.. Define the following fields on the pages of theInternet setup wizard:Connection name: - Give a descriptive name for theconnection.Data bearer: - Choose the data connection type.For more information on data connection types, see“Data connections” on page 29.Depending on which data connection you select, someof setting fields will be available on the followingpages of the wizard.GSM Data call detailsDial-up number: - The modem telephone number of theaccess point.GPRS detailsNetwork type: - Choose which version of the Internetprotocol you want to use.Auto-retrieve access point: - If your network operatorsupports this feature, the access point name can beretrieved automatically from the network.
