Always secure thephone in its holder; do not place the phone on the passengerseat or where it can break loose in a collision or a sudden stop.Remember: road safety always comes first!Operating environmentRemember to follow any special regulations in force in any areaand always switch off your phone whenever it is forbidden touse it, or when it may cause interference or danger.Electronic devicesMost modern electronic equipment is shielded from radiofrequency (RF) signals. However, certain electronic equipmentmay not be shielded against the RF signals from your car phone.PacemakersPacemaker manufacturers recommend that a minimumseparation distance of 20 cm be maintained between thevehicle antenna and a pacemaker to avoid potentialinterference with the pacemaker. These recommendations areconsistent with the independent research by andrecommendations of Wireless Technology Research.If you have any reason to suspect that interference is takingplace, switch your car phone over to off mode immediately.Potentially explosive atmospheresSwitch your car phone over to off mode, see “Off mode” onpage 17, when in any area with a potentially explosiveatmosphere and obey all signs and instructions. Sparks in suchareas could cause an explosion or fire resulting in bodily injuryor even death.Users are advised not to use the car phone when at a refuellingpoint. Remember to observe the restrictions on the use of radioequipment in fuel depots (fuel storage and distribution areas),chemical plants or where blasting operations are in progress.Areas with a potentially explosive atmosphere are often, butnot always, clearly marked. They include below deck on boats,chemical transfer or storage facilities, vehicles using liquifiedpetroleum gas (such as propane or butane), areas where the aircontains chemicals or particles such as grain, dust or metalpowders, and any other area where you would normally beadvised to turn off your vehicle engine.VehiclesOnly qualified personnel should service the car phone or installthe car phone in a vehicle. Faulty installation or service may bedangerous and may invalidate any warranty which may apply tothe unit.Check regularly that all wireless phone equipment in yourvehicle is mounted and operating properly.Do not store or carry flammable liquids, gases or explosivematerials in the same compartment as the phone, its parts oraccessories. |
