You can, for example, set yourscreen name and IM alert tones.To converse with an IM user or users, and to view and edityour IM contacts, you must log into an instant messagingserver. To add an IM server, select OptionsSettingsServers. Ask your service provider for the correct settings.To set the server as the one to which your deviceautomatically logs in, select OptionsSettingsDefault server.To define how your device connects to the IM server, selectOptionsSettingsIM login type. To establish aconnection between your device and the default serverautomatically, select Automatic. To automate theconnection only when in your home network, select Autoin home netw. To connect to the server when you openthe IM application, select On app. start-up. To connect tothe server manually, select Manual and log into the serverin the IM main view by selecting OptionsLog in. Enteryour user ID and password at the prompt. You can obtainthe user name, password, and other settings to log in fromyour service provider when you register for the service.Start a conversationOpen Conversations.To search for IM users and user IDs, select IM contactsOptionsNew IM contactSearch. You can search byUser's name, User ID, Phone number, and E-mailaddress.To view a conversation, select a participant.To continue the conversation, enter your message, andselect OptionsSend.To return to the conversations list without closing theconversation, select Back. To close the conversation,select OptionsEnd conversation.To start a new conversation, select OptionsNewconversation. You can start a new conversation with acontact while you are inside an active conversation.However, you cannot have two active conversations withthe same contact.To insert an image to an instant message, selectOptionsSend image, and select the image you wantto send.To save a conversation participant to your IM contacts,select OptionsAdd to IM contacts.To save a conversation, while in the conversation view,select OptionsRecord chat.
