To view the details of an installed software package,select the application and Options > View details.To view the installation log, select Options > Viewlog. A list shows what software has been installed andremoved, and the date of the installation or removal.If you encounter problems with the device afterinstalling a software package, use this list to find outwhich software package may be the cause of theproblem. The information in this list may also help youpinpoint problems that are caused by softwarepackages that are incompatible with each other.To remove software, select Options > Remove. If youremove software, you can only reinstall it by using theoriginal software package file, or by restoring a fullbackup that contains the removed software package.If you remove a software package, you may no longerbe able to open files created with that software. Ifanother software package depends on the softwarepackage that you removed, the other software packagemay stop working. Refer to the documentation of theinstalled software package for details.Installation settingsTo modify the installation settings, select Options >Settings and from the following:• Software installation — Select to install signedapplications only or all applications.• Online certificate check — To check the validity ofcertificates when an application is installed, selectOn. If validity cannot be verified, you are asked ifyou want to continue installation.• Default web address — The validity of a certificateis checked from the default address if the certificatedoes not include its own web address. To changethe default address, select Default web address,and enter the new address.Java security settingsTo specify security settings for a Java application, selectOptions > Settings.You can define which functions the Java application canaccess. The value that you can set for each functionalitydepends on the protection domain of the softwarepackage.• Access point — Select an access point that theapplication may use when making networkconnections.• Network access — Allow the application to createa data connection to the network.• Messaging — Allow the application to sendmessages.• Application auto-start — Allow the application tostart automatically.• Connectivity — Allow the application to activate adata connection, such as a Bluetooth connection.• Multimedia — Allow the application to use themultimedia features of your device.• Read user data — Allow the application to readyour calendar entries, contacts, or any otherpersonal data.• Edit user data — Allow the application to addpersonal data, such as entries to Contacts.• Positioning — Allow the application to use thelocation data in your device.118 Security and data management
