If you select an existing network,WLAN network mode and WLAN security mode aredetermined by the settings of its access point device.• Network status — Define whether the network nameis displayed.• WLAN network mode — Select Ad-hoc to create anad hoc network, and to allow devices to send andreceive data directly; a WLAN access point device is notneeded. In an ad hoc network, all devices must use thesame WLAN network name.• WLAN security mode — Select the encryption used:WEP, 802.1x, or WPA/WPA2. (802.1x and WPA/WPA2are not available for ad hoc networks.) If you selectOpen network, no encryption is used. The WEP, 802.1x,and WPA functions can be used only if the networksupports them.• Use access point — Select After confirmation to setthe device to ask for confirmation before theconnection using this access point is created orAutomatically to set the device to connect to thedestination using this access point automatically.To enter the settings for the selected security mode, selectWLAN security settings.Advanced WLAN settingsSelect Options > Advanced settings and from thefollowing:• IPv4 settings — Enter the IP address of your device,the subnet IP address, the default gateway, and the IPaddresses of the primary and secondary DNS servers.Contact your internet service provider for theseaddresses.• IPv6 settings — Define the type of DNS address.• Ad-hoc channel (only for ad hoc networks) — To entera channel number (1-11) manually, select Userdefined.• Proxy server address — Enter the address for theproxy server.• Proxy port number — Enter the proxy port number.Packet data (GPRS) settingsSelect Menu > Ctrl. panel > Settings and Connection >Packet data.Your device supports packet data connections, such asGPRS in the GSM network. When you are using your devicein GSM and UMTS networks, it is possible to have multipledata connections active at the same time; access pointscan share a data connection, and data connections remainactive, for example, during voice calls.To define the packet data settings, select Packet dataconnection and When available to register the device tothe packet data network when you switch the device onin a supported network, or When needed to register thedevice to a packet data network only when an applicationor action attempts to establish a packet data connection.This setting affects all access points for packet dataconnections.
