The trip meter has limited accuracy, and rounding errors mayoccur. Accuracy can also be affected by availability and qualityof GPS signals.The coordinates in the GPS are expressed using theinternational WGS-84 coordinate system. The availability ofthe coordinates may vary by region.About assisted GPS (A-GPS)Your device supports A-GPS (network service). When youactivate A-GPS, your device receives useful satelliteinformation from an assistance data server over the cellularnetwork. With the help of assisted data, your device canobtain the GPS position faster.Assisted GPS (A-GPS) is used to retrieve assistance data overa packet data connection, which assists in calculating thecoordinates of your current location when your device isreceiving signals from satellites.Your device is preconfigured to use the Nokia A-GPS service,if no service provider-specific A-GPS settings are available.The assistance data is retrieved from the Nokia A-GPS serviceserver only when needed.You must have an internet access point defined in the deviceto retrieve assistance data from the Nokia A-GPS service overa packet data connection.Define an access point for A-GPSSelect Menu > Applications > Location and Positioning >Positioning server > Access point. Only a packet datainternet access point can be used for this service. Your deviceasks for the internet access point when GPS is used for thefirst time.Tips on creating a GPS connectionCheck the satellite signal statusSelect Menu > Applications > Location and GPS data >Options > Satellite status.If your device has found satellites, a bar for each satellite isshown in the satellite information view. The longer the bar,the stronger the satellite signal. When your device hasreceived enough data from the satellite signal to calculateyour location, the colour of the bar changes.Initially your device must receive signals from at least foursatellites to be able to calculate your location. When theinitial calculation has been made, it may be possible tocontinue calculating your location with three satellites.However, the accuracy is generally better when moresatellites are found.If no satellite signal can be found, consider the following:• If you are indoors, go outdoors to receive a better signal.© 2011 Nokia.
