The useof home made soap and water leak test solution should beavoided if possible. When applying leak test solutions, applythe solution over the entire joint using a small brush or sprayapplicator.Due to low system operating pressure, it may take a fewminutes for bubbles to appear if the connection is leaking.Hidden joints should be examined thoroughly using aninspection mirror.Fig. 8 - LP Gas System Components. The refrigerator LP gas system, shown in Fig. 8, is for propanegas use only. The system working pressure is 10.5 to 11.5in. water column. Propane gas pressures below 10.5 in. w.c.or above 11.5 in. w.c. will affect heat output which in turn willaffect cooling efficiency.Testing for LP Gas LeaksPressure RequirementsPressuretest portDC connectionsOrifice assembly(LP15 orifice shown)ElectrodeCanisterBurnerFlue tubeBaffleBurner tubeBurner box baseRVLP gas supplyGas valveGas inlet fittingGas outlet fittingManual shut-off(shown closed)! WARNING:When working on or near the LP gas system:• Do not smoke or light fires! Extinguish all open flames!• Do not use an open fl ame to leak test any of the LP gassystem components. LP gas is highly flammable andexplosive.• Do not connect the refrigerator directly to the LP gastank. Always use an approved pressure regulatorbetween the LP gas tank and the refrigerator LP gassystem.• To prevent damage to connections, piping, andcomponents, always use two wrenches to tighten orloosen connections. Damaged connections, piping, andcomponents create the potential for gas leaks.! CAUTION:Do not use leak test solutions that contain ammoniaor chlorine. Ammonia and chlorine attack copper andbrass components.! WARNING:Do not wet or spray liquids on or near electricalconnections or electronic components. Many liquids, including leak detection solutions, are electricallyconductive and can create an electric shockhazard, short electrical components, and/or damageelectronic circuits.
