Adescription of the causes, symptoms and effects of hyperthermiaare as follows:Hyperthermia occurs when the internal temperature of the bodyreaches a level several degrees above the normal body temperatureof 98.6°F (37°C). The symptoms of hyper-thermia includedrowsiness, lethargy, and an increase in the internal temperature ofthe body. The effects of hyper-thermia are:1. Unawareness of impending hazard2. Failure to perceive heat3. Failure to recognize the need to exit hot tub4. Physical inability to exit hot tub5. Fetal damage to pregnant women6. Unconsciousness and danger of drowningADDITIONAL CAUTIONS:1. A physician should be consulted BEFORE using a hot tub ifpersons are suffering from heart disease, high or low bloodpressure or any condition requiring medical treatment suchas pregnant women, the elderly or infants.2. Hot tub water temperature should not exceed 104˚F (40˚C).Temperatures in excess of 104˚F (40˚C) can be hazardousto your health.3. Reasonable time limits using a hot tub should be observed.Long exposures at higher temperatures can cause bodytemperature to rise and may cause dizziness, fainting,reduced awareness, drowsiness.
