195. Measure your heart rate if desired.To use the chest heart rate monitor, see page11. To use the handgrip heart rate monitor, fol-low the instructions below. IMPORTANT: If youuse both heart rate monitors at the same time,the console will not display your heart rateaccurately.If there are sheetsof plastic on themetal contactson the handgripheart rate monitor,remove the plas-tic. To measureyour heart rate,hold the handgripheart rate monitorwith your palmsresting against thecontacts. Avoid moving your hands or grippingthe contacts tightly.When your pulse is detected, your heart ratewill be shown. For the most accurate heartrate reading, hold the contacts for at least 15seconds.If the display does not show your heart rate, makesure that your hands are positioned as described.Be careful not to move your hands excessively orto squeeze the contacts tightly. For optimal perfor-mance, clean the contacts using a soft cloth; neveruse alcohol, abrasives, or chemicals to cleanthe contacts.6. Turn on the fan if desired.The fan has several speed settings,including an auto mode. While theauto mode is selected, the speed ofthe fan will automatically increaseor decrease as your pedaling speedand/or your power output in wattsincreases or decreases. Press thefan increase and decrease buttons repeatedly toselect a fan speed or to turn off the fan.Note: If the pedals are not moved for a while whenthe main menu is selected, the fan will turn offautomatically.7. When you are finished exercising, unplug thepower cord.When you are finished exercising, press the powerswitch to the off position and unplug the powercord. IMPORTANT: If you do not do this, theelectrical components of the elliptical may wearprematurely.Contacts
