Repair7-4 1997 Nordson CorporationAll rights reserved106 915CIssued 11/97Manual 21-27To disassemble a worn or damaged packing cartridge and fluid needle,perform the following steps:NOTE: The puller is attached to the packing cartridge using threadlocking compound.1. See Figure 7-3. Unscrew and remove the puller (12).2. Use the supplied Nordson wrench to unscrew the packing cartridgeretainer (11) from the extension (1).3. Remove the shaft seal (10) from the packing cartridge retainer (11).4. Screw the puller (12) partially onto the packing cartridgeassembly (7).5. Pull the remaining parts out of the extension (1) using the puller (12).6. Unscrew the puller (12) from the packing cartridge assembly (7).7. Remove the spacer (9).8. Remove the gasket (8) from the spacer (9).9. Unscrew the packing cartridge body (5) from the packing cartridgeassembly (7). Remove the spring seal (3) and O-ring (4) from thebody.NOTE: The fluid needle and packing cartridge assembly are securedusing thread adhesive.10. Unscrew the fluid needle (2) from the packing cartridge assembly (7).11. Remove the O-ring (6) from the packing cartridge assembly (7).12. Clean the exterior of the extension (1) and all parts.
