Installation3-2Part 104373ā03 2015 Nordson CorporationPneumatic ConnectionsNOTE: An approved pressure relief device set at 5.52 bar (80 psi) must beinstalled in the air inlet line to this pump. The pump requires 5.52-bar (80-psi) maximum input and 0.48 m 3/min.(17.16 cfm) to operate at 60 strokes per minute. The air supply line shouldbe 13-mm (1/2-in.) minimum ID. Use a length of hose between any hardplumbing and the pump. The hose will serve as a vibration damper.1. Purge the air supply line of all contaminants.NOTE: Make sure the shut-off valve is in the OFF position and theregulator is backed all the way out.2. See Figure 2-2. Connect the air supply hose to the 1/2-in. NPT femaleair input fitting (13) at the shutoff valve.Fluid ConnectionsStainless steel fittings are recommended for all connections. Liberally coatall fitting threads with pipe joint adhesive. Tighten fittings securely toeliminate the siphoning of air.If the installation is to be hard-plumbed, 10-mm ( 3/8-in.) ID, or 1-mm(0.035-in.) wall seamless stainless steel tubing is recommended. Install ahigh-pressure fluid hose at least 305-mm (12-in.) long from the pump outletto any tubing to serve as a vibration damper.Siphon ConnectionsSiphon Rod and Strainer1. See Figure 3-2. Install the siphon strainer (5) on the siphon rod (4).Tighten the thumb screw securely.2. Install the 1/2-in. NPT male connector (3), provided with the pump, intothe elbow of the siphon rod (4).3. Connect the siphon hose (2) between the male connector and siphonmanifold (1).Pressure Feed ConnectionSee Figure 3-2. The coating material may be supplied to the pump bygravity pressure or by pressure feed from a pressure reservoir. Maximumfeed pressure should be no more than 1.38 bar (20 psi).1. Install the 1/2-in. NPT male connector (3), provided with the pump, to afitting in the pressure feed line (4).2. Install the siphon hose (2) between the pump siphon manifold (1) andthe pressure feed line. The hose will serve as a vibration damper.3. Install a shutoff valve (5) in the pressure feed line, ahead of the pump.Do not use a check valve or fluid regulator in the pressure supply line.
