Troubleshooting 5-3Part 104373ā03 2015 Nordson CorporationCorrective ActionPossible CauseProblem1. Pump fails to start(contd)Air tubing improperly routed Check all tubing connections againstthe pneumatic schematic located onthe accumulator cover and onpage 6-14 in the Repair section. Ifthe connections are correct and thepump still will not start, then eitherthe double pilot valve or one of theroller valves are faulty.Faulty double pilot or roller valves Disconnect the tubing from the rollervalve to the double pilot valve anddepress the roller valve actuatinglever. If no air flows through thevalve, replace it. If both roller valvesfunction normally, replace the doublepilot valve.2. Pump stops duringoperationHydraulic system blocked Refer to corrective actions forProblem 1.Ice in muffler boxes or exhausttubesIce may form in the muffler boxesand exhaust tubes when the pump isrunning at high speeds with wet air orin an unusually cold location. The airvalve will not operate if the exhaustports are plugged. To eliminate icing, heat and/or dry the compressed airsupply.3. Air leakingcontinuously intomufflerFaulty air valve Rebuild or replace the air valve.4. Pump strokesirregularly or fluidpressure fluctuatesAir leak in the siphon circuit Leaks in the siphon system may bechecked by placing the drain rod inwater. Close the circulation valve, open the drain valve, and operate thepump while watching for bubbles inthe water. If bubbles occur, air isentering the pump through the siphonsystem. These are the possible leaklocations: Connections in the pressure feedsystem or siphon hose/rodassembly may be leaking.Tighten all fittings including thoseat the siphon manifold. Liberallycoat all threads with pipe jointadhesive. The siphon hose may have asmall hole or crack in it. Replacethe hose. The two O-rings between thesiphon manifold and the hydraulichousings may be leaking.Replace the O-rings.Continued...
