Application Gateway Administration GuideAppendix A Upgrading MemoryUpgrading the Memory373 Install the new 512 Mbyte DIMM boards in the Application Gateway.Refer to Figure 19 on page 38.Note 1: Use only DIMM boards contained in the NTDU80 ApplicationGateway Memory Upgrade Kit. Nortel does not recommend the use ofother memory modules.Note 2: Do not mix the new 512 Mbyte DIMM boards with the original128 Mbyte DIMM boards. Make sure that all the original boards havebeen removed during step 2 on page 35.a. Align the key slots (A) in the edge of the DIMM board with thecorresponding slots in the mating board socket (B). (The connectorsare keyed to mate in one direction only.)b. Firmly press the DIMM board straight down and all the way into theApplication Gateway board socket.c. Ensure the DIMM board is locked in by pressing the levers (C) on eachend of the Application Gateway board socket into the mating notches(D) on each edge of the DIMM board.CAUTIONUse extreme care when installing aDIMM board. Applying too muchpressure or misaligning the board inthe socket can damage the sockets orDIMM board edge connectors. DIMMboard edge connectors are keyed andcan be inserted only one way.To reduce the risk of damaging aconnector, install the DIMM boardsstarting with the back socket on theApplication Gateway board and movetoward the front of the ApplicationGateway board.
