November 2007 Time SynchronisationInstallation Guide 83ImplementationTo set up a PC as an SNTP server, the following Registry key is added by thedatabase installation kit:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters LocalNTP= dword:00000001To set the SNTP server used by the W32Time service, the followingcommand must be run:net time /setsntp:ewareserver.domain.comMultiple servers can be set, in order of preference, by using the syntax /setsntp:"server1 server2". Servers can be specified by full-qualifieddomain names, as illustrated, or on a LAN by the network PC name alone. On all PCs, whether part of a domain or not, it is recommended that theW32Time service is configured to write events to the Windows Event Log toenable it to be monitored. This is done by adding two Registry keys:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters Log=dword:00000064WriteLog="True"In all cases, the W32Time service should then be stopped and restarted byany suitable means (interfacing direct to the Service Control Manager, usingNET STOP and NET START, etc) in order for these changes to take effect.
